The Walking Dead returns with episode 801, “Mercy.” Here’s what you need to know to watch the milestone episode on TV and online.

After what seems like an eternity, The Walking Dead is back for its eighth season. More than that, though, is the celebration of the show’s 100th episode. This is a major milestone for any television show but it’s especially important for a show like The Walking Dead, which has brought a “zombie drama” into mainstream television where it is now woven indelibly into the fabric of pop culture.

Here’s the official synopsis of “Mercy” from AMC:

"“Rick and his group, along with the Kingdom and Hilltop, have banded together to bring the fight to Negan and the Saviors.”"

When last we saw Rick and the gang, Negan and his Saviors had been ousted from Alexandria after his failed attempt to take over. Rick got an assist from Maggie and the Hilltop and King Ezekiel and the Kingdom. Now, All Out War is coming but this time Rick is taking the battle to Negan. They aren’t going to give in and though casualties are to be expected, this is one battle they have to fight to win.

In the season premiere we will have a chance to see how the communities are working together to prepare for the big battle against Big Bad Negan.

Are you ready? It’s time to Rise Up!
