The Walking Dead’s cast, crew, and press alike all laughed out hard when Carol announced her biggest regret was being snooty to Mrs. Neudermeyer about the pasta maker! Norman Reedus especially enjoyed this line.

Melissa McBride on Carol Peletier’s biggest regret:

“I kind of wish Carol had not been so snooty to Mrs. Neudermeyer about the pasta maker. *Whole room laughs hard*. I wish I could take that back and that’s a big regret. Sorrryyyyy!”

Shelly Neudermeyer was a resident of the Alexandria community in Seasons 5 and 6 who just wanted some good pasta. After telling Carol about the lack of a pasta maker on the premises, Carol promised to teach her how to make pasta with her own two hands… If she stopped smoking inside the house. She agrees, though Shelly simply takes her smoking habit outside.

Mrs. Neudermeyer unfortunately doesn’t ever make it to see a pasta maker, though one is found by Rick and Daryl several weeks later. Her character ends comes across from one of the Wolves rather than any walker or cigarette habit.

Melissa McBride delievered this response with a completely serious face though obvious deadpan humor.

Perhaps, losing Mrs. Neudermeyer’s passing on The Walking Dead weighed down heavily on Carol’s decision to leave the group temporarily? Losing people she cares about so to speak. The idea that if she had just kept her smoking indoors, the Wolf wouldn’t have been able to get to her.
