The Walking Dead, The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
1) The song playing as the episode begins is Donny Hathaway’s “Someday, We’ll All Be Free”. This is quite an ironic selection, considering that that’s essentially what Alexandria, The Kingdom, and The Hilltop are fighting for.
2) Abraham’s appearance in Sasha’s flashback is his first appearance since his death in the season opener, “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be”.
3) Incidentally, this is also the first flashback since Morgan’s following Benjamin’s death in “Bury Me Here”.
4) This episode gets its name from Negan’s greeting to Sasha as she wakes up.
5) Tara telling Daryl to kill Dwight is rather reminiscent of Carl telling Rick to kill Randall way back in Season Two’s “Judge, Jury, And Executioner”.
6) The “someone else” Dwight refers to, and helped Daryl escape The Sanctuary, was Sherry, who fled The Saviors’ base in “Hostiles And Calamities” and helped Daryl in “Hearts Still Beating”.
