#3. Can the survivors trust Dwight?
There were plenty of reasons to doubt Dwight. He was a high ranking person at The Sanctuary, Negan had leverage on him, and he wasn’t able to inform them of the confrontation at the end of season 7.
Still, Dwight left an apology for the survivors and exchanged plenty of information with the group. He laid out where all of The Saviors guards and watchmen were for Rick’s group, allowing them to surprise Negan and his people.
The fact that Rick and the others followed his directions and they were accurate is huge for Dwight. This should put him in the good graces of the survivors and show that he really doesn’t fight for Negan at all anymore.
Once again, this was just a small part of the episode which could have been expanded a bit to help establish that Dwight really isn’t a bad guy and he can be trusted. Hopefully, viewers caught that and they will start to warm up to him going forward.
