Overall impression of TWD 802

This is the kind of episode that The Walking Dead needed after a moderately disappointing season 8 premiere.

The extreme domination of The Sanctuary that Rick’s group had during the premiere finally met a match, with the follow-up episode that gave a bit of a look into the power that The Saviors have as far as numbers, resources, and defenses.

More from Undead Walking

While body counts are never good to see, they are needed in a situation like this. Losing a couple of minor characters who are connected to major characters is a great way to do that without making it all fall apart.

It was a little confusing with the stories jumping around a bit, but once the stories were told it was fantastic. It added more power to the story as a whole, just showing how much preparation and hard-work went into executing their plans.

As a whole, I didn’t care for the return of Morales. However, I’m more interested to see what happens with the kid in the crib and the members of The Kindom who are entering a situation where The Saviors know they are coming.

On a scale of 1 to 10, this episode was a 9. It’s a fantastic rebound episode from a cartoony premiere that might help draw in viewers and add more intrigue about All-Out War going forward.
