The Walking Dead, Mercy: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
8) In identifying the lookouts, Dwight’s intel shows us precisely how The Saviors have been so on top of what the other groups have been doing up to this point.
9) When Daryl kills one of the lookouts, he discovers a tally on his magnum, which indicates he’s killed forty-three people. Whether he killed all of these people before or after he joined The Saviors, we’ll never know.
10) As the three groups gather to prepare for the battle, you can see that they each have color-coded armbands: Alexandria has white, Hilltop has green, and The Kingdom, red.
11) Gregory being trotted out by Negan explains where he went with Kal in Season Seven’s “Something They Need”.
12) Rick taking a polaroid of The Sanctuary’s destroyed fence seems like a reference to The Saviors’ habit of taking picture of their victims, as we saw in Season Six’s “Not Tomorrow Yet”.
13) Gabriel going back to save Gregory seems mildly reminiscent of Glenn saving Rick in the very second episode, “Guts”.
14) The entire destruction of the The Sanctuary’s gate, as well as Father Gabriel’s capture is a rather large departure from the comics. In the comics, Holly crashes through the gates with a truck (Rather than the RV), and gets captured as a result.
