3. Sasha Williams

Like Abe, Sasha went out like the warrior she was. Sasha had such a struggle after losing both Bob and Tyreese in a very short period of time. For a while, she was practically suicidal. Sasha struggled to find a reason to keep fighting. But she found her way out of that darkness and despite her initial reluctance about Abe the two of them forged a tight bond. Abe’s death didn’t break her. But it did ignite her drive to do anything that was necessary to get justice for him. Even, in the end, turning herself into a weapon.

Sasha’s death was tragic but it was also, in a way, a gift. It’s rare in that world to have any say in your own future. To have the power to decide your death instead of just waiting for death to find you is a gift for warriors like Sasha. She didn’t want Negan to use her to hurt the people she loved, which she knew he would do. So she took a little power that she had and used it to help her friends.

And her death did help them. It may even have saved their lives. After The Scavengers double-crossed the Alexandria group they were scrambling. But Sasha’s death and turning into a walker threw Negan off his game because he didn’t see it coming. The few moments of his hesitation and confusion gave Rick and the others a small window to regroup and start fighting back.

Sasha’s death was heartbreaking. But it was a totally appropriate death for a true warrior.
