9. Lori goes after Rick and leaves Carl behind

This decision may not have had huge consequences, but it surely deserves a spot on the list of worst decisions, based on its very high score on the scale of stupidity.

Best way to keep your child safe when his dad’s gone? Leave without telling anyone!

Many people made fun of Lori for being a bad mother, which is probably a little exaggerated as most of the time, she seems to be doing her best in very difficult circumstances. This one time, however, she truly did not deserve any “mother of the year award”.

One can understand why Lori was worried sick, knowing that Rick had gone to town and not come back. Still, that she might decide, without telling anyone, to go out there on her own, leaving her child behind, is mind-boggling.

After getting a rebuke from Daryl, who was still sulking after the failed search for Sophia, she could have asked someone else to go. Or she could have asked someone to come with her. Or, at the very least, she could have warned someone she was going.

That moment when Carl thought he might have become an orphan…

Instead, without taking any of these elementary precautions, she just set off on her own, leaving poor Carl behind. We can understand why Carl started crying in anguish when her absence was discovered, and the poor kid realized he might have just lost his dad and his mum.

And of course, to make things worse, Lori found a way to crash her car even though she was driving on a nearly deserted road. Thus making it necessary, in turn, for Shane to go and get her.

The Grimes family may have guts, but both mother and son certainly have a knack for taking unnecessary risks which complicate things for everyone on The Walking Dead.
