#3. How will Ezekiel recover from the attack?

Ezekiel was placed in an odd situation when the gunfire started at the outpost. Despite yelling for everyone to scatter, the people from The Kingdom dove on top of Ezekiel in an effort to save his life at the cost of their own.

The action of those survivors was successful. Although they sacrificed their lives, Ezekiel survived with only a wound to his leg that prevented him from putting weight on it. With help from Alvaro and Jerry, he was able to survive the reanimation of the dead from The Kingdom and Gunther’s efforts to bring him to Negan.

All of this had a big impact on Ezekiel mentally. His “king” personally had fallen apart and seeing all the death around him broke him down to the point where he no longer felt like a leader, with him wanting to just be a man again.

Jerry was able to help keep him going, but even that feeling couldn’t have prepared Ezekiel for it all to fall apart one more time when Carol and Jerry were helping him back to The Kingdom, where he walked past all his people a broken man.
