Overall impression of TWD 805

As a whole, this episode of The Walking Dead was quite good. It was nice to get a look at what has been going on at The Sanctuary. Episodes focusing on Negan and The Saviors are always a lot of fun and interesting.

The conversations between Eugene and Dwight were a huge highlight of the episode. The paranoia of Eugene bouncing off the inquisitive nature of Dwight made for an interesting dynamic that drew everyone in.

That same kind of dynamic between Negan and Gabriel was a big strength. Having those two trapped together opened up an interesting dialogue between the characters that was intense, intriguing, and made you wonder if their discussions would have a huge implication for the future.

There’s a lot being set up here. Rick going back to The Scavengers, the search for the mole in The Sanctuary, the conflict between killing everyone vs humanity are all key issues going forward. And was Gabriel bit, sick, or one of the best fakers ever? We’ll have to find out in a future episode.

As a whole, this was a good episode, but I don’t see it being as re-watchable as others in the season. There were some really interesting dynamics going on, but as a whole, this episode gets a 7.9 out of 10 from me.
