The Walking Dead 805 recap: ‘The Big Scary U’

Weaknesses

Dwight is in his room (wearing Daryl’s vest) when Eugene comes in with his pickles. Eugene looks around and thanks him for his support. He brought the pickles as a gift for having his back in the meeting and to show that they will have faith that they’ll make it out of their pickle. Eugene spots Dwight’s chess board and asks if he made them. Before he leaves, he says that he knows why people think he was the traitor and that’s why he’s happy Dwight has his back.

In the trailer, Gabriel asks about how he helped the weak. Negan says he helped kids and that you have to show them the way or they become jerks. Adults need the same thing. Governments, religion, laws. Gabriel says that Negan is weak for killing the innocent. He says he never killed the innocent. As a Walker breaks through the door, Gabriel asks why he’s weak. Negan says you can use weakness to drive strength. He overtook the Sanctuary by bringing together armies of animals. The guy in charge allowed everyone to be weak, and they needed to be strong. Negan wants to make Gabriel strong, too. He will be his special project. Gabriel reveals he was part of the satellite project and Negan agrees that killing sleeping people is strong. Gabriel wants to know how he’s weak. They could be dead soon, so doesn’t Negan want forgiveness? It just takes saying the truth out loud. Negan listens but says he didn’t kill anyone who didn’t deserve it. Gabriel says the workers are like slaves but Negan says they’re free and cared for. Gabriel says Carl told them about his wives. Negan says the women made a choice. Gabriel wants to know if there was one wife above all. While Negan considers, Gabriel grabs the gun and takes a shot. He misses. The Walkers are breaking in and Negan says it’s time for them to go.
