The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead crossover is coming. With one chance to really get this right, we share some thoughts on how it might happen.

Ever since the big Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead crossover was announced, the TWD Family has been deep in speculation mode about how it might go down. Will it be a member of The Walking Dead showing up on Fear, or the other way around. Given the nature of the timelines, that seems a lot more likely. Fear is not a prequel, of course, but the companion show does take place earlier than The Walking Dead, allowing writers to go back and show things on Fear that were happening before we saw them on The Walking Dead.

Originally there were never plans for a crossover. Keep them separate. A crossover will never, ever happen.

But now that’s changed, and on Sunday’s Talking Dead the details of the crossover will be announced, presumably to avoid it being spoiled.

Given that filming has wrapped for the first half of The Walking Dead, we can safely assume the crossover will be a character from The Walking Dead coming to Fear the Walking Dead when it starts filming in its new Texas location.

More importantly, though, as fans we can only hope that this crossover is done well. I have full trust in the writers and showrunners and I don’t think they’d go through all of this trouble to do something that doesn’t make sense. Fear could really use a boost after an amazing third season that ended on a bit of a down note and most of the characters in life or death situations. A little boost from Michael Cudlitz, for example, could be a major boon for the show that has struggled to find an audience with the TWD Family.

With eagle-eyed fans speculating rampantly about the identity of the character crossing over between shows, Rosita and Abraham have become frontrunners though nothing is certain until the announcement is made. I’d like to think that it will be someone who will come as a complete surprise to everyone, but that’s not guaranteed since it has to fit with the story and it has to make sense from a filming aspect.

I’m excited for the big reveal and I’m hoping that the character crosses from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead for the sole purpose of kicking Madison and the gang in the butt so that they stop making the same mistakes. With the new start in Texas, we’re likely to have a very different Fear in season 4 and what better way to mark its arrival than with an epic crossover?
