1) This episode is the first to start with a flashback since Sasha’s flashback to her and Abraham in the Season Seven finale, “First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life”.

2) While recapping his meeting with Gregory, Simon reveals that he is the boss of the satellite/radar station outpost. Whether he always ran that outpost or not is impossible to tell at this point.

3) Additionally, by revealing that he was waiting for Simon during the battle of Alexandria, Gregory inadvertently confirms that The Scavengers tipped off Negan to Rick’s plan before he did.

4) This episode gets its name from Gregory’s statement to Negan about the pitfalls of leadership: “…managing resources and the population, and The Big Scary You.

5) Incidentally, Gregory’s words have something of a double meaning. While he clarifies that the “U” is “The Unknown”, he originally says the phrase to Negan, a person he is clearly afraid of. In fact, the closed captioning even spells out the word “You” as Gregory says it.
