With Rick temporarily out of the way, will this give Daryl a chance to take over the plan and end things with the Saviors once and for all?

Daryl and Rick were so heated over the plan to take down the Saviors that they came to blows. Like two brothers, they fought because their words had no meaning anymore. Sadly, they lost a truck full of weapons in the process of fighting, but maybe that’s what they needed to remind them of what’s on the line right now. But now that Rick is out of the picture for a while, will this be an opportunity for Daryl to take charge and finish this fight the way he wanted to from the start?

While Rick and Daryl haven’t always seen eye to eye, they always manage to come together in a fight. We’ve seen that time and again. But this fight is personal for both of them. Rick is fighting to end the Saviors’ reign of terror while Daryl is gunning for revenge. He wants to kill Dwight for killing Denise and tormenting him when he was a prisoner, but most of all he wants to bring down Negan after Negan killed Glenn and Abraham.

Now Daryl has a group of like-minded people with him who want their own revenge. Michonne. Tara. Rosita. Together, they might be able to do something to tip the scales in their favor once and for all while Rick is away.

At this point we don’t know the full extent of “The Plan” other than the intermediate steps have been met. The outposts have been destroyed and no new weapons are headed to the Sanctuary. But we don’t know what’s supposed to happen next.

The scary thing is that we have members of the team splintering off. Carl is off with Siddiq in the woods while Aaron and Enid have left the Hilltop. Carol wants to get something going with Ezekiel. And now there’s Daryl’s team. What was the next step in the plan? Are we still on track or are we falling apart?

Daryl likely knows where Rick was going, and we can safely assume there was a plan in place if Rick didn’t return by a certain point. Will Daryl rush in to save Rick, or will he keep an eye on the Scavengers and go off on his own?
