Decisions, Decisions

Eugene gets ready to launch his glider. He records his plan on tape to document it. The idea is to blast music to redirect the Walkers away from the building. Someone tells him not to turn around.

Tara takes her position and says she’s ready. Morgan says they are ready to go. The other snipers call in and they are ready. Daryl is in the truck and he’s ready.

Dwight aims a gun at Eugene and tells him to stop but Eugene says that his plan will free everyone at the Sanctuary by leading the Walkers away. Dwight says that Negan will kill Rick and all of his friends but Eugene says they were only his traveling companions anyway. Dwight says he’s close to ending all of this and they can kill Negan and end it all. Eugene pushes play on the iPod and sends the craft into the Walkers. Dwight can’t shoot him. Daryl uses that as a signal. Dwight instead shoots Eugene’s glider down and Tara starts firing as Daryl drives by. Morgan is also shooting from his perch.

Daryl jumps from the truck as it crashes into the building. Morgan tells him he’s clear and that he and Morgan can go in.

Inside the Sanctuary, there are Walkers everywhere and chaos inside as workers run around and try to fight them off. Eugene runs up the stairs and stops when he sees the chaos below. Dwight is shooting the Walkers to keep them from going up the stairs. Eugene braces himself and goes to see Gabriel and tells him that he will not be part of his plan. He won’t cover for anyone and he plans on staying safe with Negan because staying alive is all he knows how to do. Dr. Carson is staying put where he is.

Eugene reports back to Negan, who wants to know if Eugene can make more bullets. Eugene says that with his machines he can do it. Negan asks how it feels to be the second most important person there. Eugene says he has another piece of business. But he can’t tell him because Dwight and Regina come in and interrupt. Eugene says that he can fix the intercom rather than ratting out Dwight.

Later, Eugene reflects on what he did and didn’t do from his room. He’s not happy about any of it. After taking a swig from his bottle of wine, and another and another, he throws up and then starts drinking again.
