Negan’s lieutenants on The Walking Dead are a motley crew but they all seem to serve specific purposes. Does Negan trust them, or is he keeping them close?

You know the old line about how everyone needs to know a doctor, a lawyer and a priest? Well, Negan seems to have his own group of confidants on The Walking Dead, but don’t go so far as to call them trusted confidants. Not all of them, anyway.

Negan keeps a wide variety of personalities around him. Some of his lieutenants have very clear purposes and it’s easy to understand why he has allowed them into his Circle of Trust. Others, however, aren’t as easy to understand in terms of their purpose, which leads us to wonder why they have such esteemed places in Negan’s inner circles.

It’s very clear that Negan is a man who can effortlessly navigate the big picture and the smaller picture simultaneously. There is absolutely no question that he has reasons for keeping these people around and you can bet that there are strategies involved in all of it.
