The Walking Dead season 8 midseason finale was explosive as promised. Here’s your recap of The Walking Dead “How It’s Gotta Be.”

Tonight we start out with Rick realizing that no one is answering his calls. The snipers are silent.

Rick chases after Carl, who explains that the man Rick shot at didn’t need the supplies he left him. That means there’s hope that he has a place to go.

Next we see Rick moving in with Jadis and the Scavengers. They get close and Jadis says this is not what Rick talked about. He tells them to shoot at the window. Carol and Jerry roll in and Rick gets in, then they drive off. Rick doesn’t think they got away.

Carl tells his father that he’s going to live. He wants to know why they’re fighting. They’re fighting to be able to live together, not to just kill people. Rick asks if they’re going to be picking strawberries with Negan, but Carl’s point is that there has to be something more than what they have.

We see Rick, we see Carl. We see Carol. We see Ezekiel. We see Morgan. We see Maggie.

And we hear a whistle. Then we see Negan in his truck. He’s laughing as they drive along.

Cue credits. Here we go!
