The Walking Dead 808 recap: ‘How It’s Gotta Be’

Being Polite

The car drives down the road. Enid and Aaron are in it and she asks whether they have to talk to them after they have come so far to see them. Aaron tells her that he and Eric used to go on trips like this to find people and now he’s not sitting in her seat. She’s sorry. Aaron needs to know that Eric died for a bigger reason.

Enid is hoping Oceanside will talk to them. Tara has told them that they kill on sight, so there is a risk. But they need to convince them to fight. Enid thinks they should have brought guns. She offers to give Cyndie her gun but Aaron points out that she will need it.

He asks if she knows how to drive, and she says she’s better than Carl.

Next she’s in the driver’s seat and she makes a detour to give them something they can use. In the distance is a distillery so they can offer their hosts a gift.

Back in Alexandria, Michonne says goodbye to Judith, who says goodbye. (She’s talking!) She goes to see Daryl, who came back. She’s glad he’s there so they can go together. He says they might give up when they see them all together. She apologizes for not being there but he says it worked so it doesn’t matter.

Carl is in his room writing a letter to his dad. He looks pensive as he shakes his head and sheds a tear. He has Enid’s motto, “Just Survive Somehow,” written on a paper in his book.

Next we see Tara and Rosita. Rosita is unloading weapons and Tara says their plan worked. Rosita wants to finish it. She says they found some grenades at the warehouse on the way back. Tara says they can redirect the herd with it on the way back. She starts loading boxes into Tara’s arms because she’s still upset with her.

Aaron and Enid arrive with the distillery truck and then they park for the night. While Aaron relaxes he spots movement near the truck. He and Enid get out and go off to scout it out. Enid finds Aaron on the ground and she shoots the woman standing over him. As it turns out, Enid shot Cyndie’s grandmother.

Carl removes the grate and starts to leave when Michonne finds him. She asks what he’s doing and he reveals he’s helping a traveler. In the sewer. As they talk, there is a knocking at the gate and Negan starts talking. He says he’s polite and he knocks, and he wants everyone to line up in front of their houses and then he’s coming in. “They got out,” she says.

Rick, Jerry, and Carol are driving, but one of the cars gets hit.
