The Walking Dead 808 recap: ‘How It’s Gotta Be’

Eugene goes to the infirmary and wakes up Gabriel and Dr. Carson. He says he knows that leaving the doctor can leave on his own. He also knows that Gabriel won’t survive the trip. Eugene says the guard at the gate is incapacitated with diarrhea so they can make it out. Gabriel tells him to come with them but he can’t. He drops the keys to a vehicle for them and says this is all so he can sleep at night.

Ezekiel rolls out barrels of gasoline and lights it up. He runs off and it explodes, catching the attention of everyone gathered. Gavin sends his men and then Ezekiel rides up in a bus. His people start fighting and running off with guns. Carol arrives and tells them to run to her house. He arrives at the gate and tells Carol to save the people like she saved him. He uses Shiva’s chain to lock the gate.

Maggie arrives at the Hilltop and Gregory tries to reason with her again. She orders one of the men to get out and Kal gives her his gun. She reminds Jesus that this is the man who tried to kill him. He says she’s putting on a show so she shoots him. “Do you want to be next?” she asks. She says the Saviors killed one of them on the road. She says they have to make the Hilltop the last stand for anyone who survives. As she walks away, she cries.
