On The Walking Dead fans know that no character is safe. Even the most popular characters and the characters who seem so integral to the story that fans can’t imagine the show with them. But it was still a shock to lose Carl Grimes in The Walking Dead season 8 mid-season finale. Many fans felt that Carl would be the last man standing when all of this was over.
But tragically Negan’s assault on Alexandria decimated the community and took one of the most beloved The Walking Dead characters with it. The mid-season finale almost always brings a death with it each season, but this death is probably the hardest that fans have had to process yet.
It’s time now to take a look back at Carl’s most memorable moments through the seasons as we remember the child he was and the fierce fighter he grew up to be. While no one can predict what this loss will do to Rick, Michonne, and the others it’s certain that this death will change the path of The Walking Dead forever.
Fans have lots of questions about how storylines from the comic will be adapted to fit this shocking twist. And it does leave some popular storylines without a protagonist, because Carl is still alive in the comic.
