The Walking Dead fans wish Lauren Cohan a happy birthday
By Sonya Iryna
Another The Walking Dead star had a birthday over the weekend. Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Greene, celebrated a birthday on Sunday.
Norman Reedus wasn’t the only The Walking Dead star celebrating a birthday this weekend. Lauren Cohan, who plays the indomitable Maggie Greene Rhee, also had a birthday over the weekend.
Her character Maggie is a much beloved fan favorite. She’s also one of the best examples of how The Walking Dead writes multi-faceted roles for women that allow them to have real character development. The Walking Dead has done what few other genre shows have done in creating strong and capable female characters that don’t cross over into caricatures.
Maggie has proven herself to be a fighter but she also hangs onto the humanity that was instilled in her by her father Hershel. And she continues to shape her life to be a living legacy for her husband Glenn, who also knew the importance of keeping humanity even in the horrors of the post-apocalypse world.
Now Maggie is proving that she can be a fierce leader as well as a fighter. As she prepared for the birth of baby Rhee she’s determined to make The Hilltop a place of peace and security where the people who follow her can thrive. And if anyone can do that in The Walking Dead world, it’s Maggie.
Members of The Walking Dead family took to Twitter on Sunday to wish her a happy birthday. Here are some of the best tweets in honor of Lauren Cohan, including a couple from Hilltop resident Eduardo (Peter Zimmerman) and Kal (James Chen):
