The Walking Dead: Top 100 Moments
100. Daryl’s on “Easy Street”
Episode 703 “The Cell”

In what was supposed to be a tense moment where Daryl is tortured at the Sanctuary, instead we got one of the catchiest (or most annoying, depending on your point of view) songs. Enter “Easy Street.”
While Daryl survived eating dog food sandwiches and living in a pitch black cell in either a sack or naked, he was also subjected to “Easy Street” playing over and over and over again. And when it stopped it started over again. The whole point of this, as we learn later, is not to torture Daryl but to break him. Negan likes Daryl and wants him on his side. But before Daryl can join the Saviors, Negan needs to make sure that he has completely fractured Daryl so that he can be put back together as a member of the team.
Incidentally, the song appears later in the season when Eugene arrives as Negan’s honored guest. Eugene comes upon the song on the stereo in his room and he finds it quite catchy, as only Eugene can.
