67. Negan Meets The Neighbors

Negan decides to deliver Carl back to his father personally, which means that Negan shows up in Alexandria much sooner than anticipated. Rick and Aaron are still off on their supply run so they aren’t there when Negan shows up.

Upon entering Carl’s house, Negan is immediately struck by all of the creature comforts that Alexandria has to offer, including running water, plush carpets, lights…and Judith. Negan is delighted to find the little girl in his crib, and eventually we see Negan sitting on the porch sipping lemonade and holding her while she sleeps. Negan gets a big kick out of waving to the Alexandrians as they pass by. He likes the place and mentions getting a vacation house. He even makes the family a spaghetti dinner.

Seeing Negan cradling Judith so tenderly is a sharp contrast to the man who bashed in Glenn and Abraham’s skulls. It’s really weird, but at the same time it works really well to show that Negan is much more than meets the eye.
