Jesus tells Rick that there are other communities out there that might be willing to work with them to defeat Negan and the Saviors. He takes Rick to the Kingdom. Rick has to do a double take when he sees King Ezekiel sitting on a throne with a tiger at his side. The group doesn’t know whether to laugh or be terrified, but soon they realize that Ezekiel is a good guy. Shiva follows his commands and the Kingdom is a thriving community.

Rick realizes that though Ezekiel is not thrilled with having to deal with the Saviors, he’s not willing to upset the fragile balance that exists between them. Rick tells Ezekiel the story of the rock in the road as a way to demonstrate why they need to work together to defeat Negan because it’s only a matter of time before the Saviors turn on the Kingdom.

They don’t leave with Ezekiel’s support, but the introductions have been made and this is the start of a beautiful friendship moving forward.
