61. Andrea Shoots Daryl

Episode 205 “Chupacabra”

Original Airdate: 11/13/2013

Submitted By: Tracey Philipps

Daryl has been long searching for Sophia in the wilderness. He is met with many physical obstacles in addition to the appearance of his brother Merle in a hallucination.

Hershel’s horse, aptly named Nervous Nelly, throws Daryl to the ground at the appearance of a snake in its path. The throw sends Daryl down a waterfall separating him from his trusty crossbow. He has a vision of Merle antagonizing him that promptly switches to a real-life encounter with a walker in his face. Daryl manages to retrieve his crossbow and take down several walkers. He strings their ears on a necklace around his neck.

Daryl must now climb back to higher ground and is again met with visions of Merle telling him he will not survive. Thankfully, Daryl uses Merle’s remarks to spur him on and he finally makes his way up the ravine. He returns to Hershel’s farm with Sophia’s doll in hand.

At this point, a filthy battle-worn Daryl staggers out of the woods onto Hershel’s farm looking much like a walker from a distance and even up close.

Andrea is on watch on top of the RV and shouts “Walker! Walker!”. Having recently become a pretty a good shot, she tells Rick she thinks she can take him out. Rick tells her not to. Shane hurries over with rifle in hand saying the guys will take care of it.
Again, Rick protests in respect for their host, Hershel, who wants to handle any walkers on the property. No one listens. The guys run toward Daryl and Andrea takes aim.

Rick points his gun at Daryl still not knowing for sure that he is alive. Then Daryl speaks! Rick lowers his gun just as Andrea’s shot rings out knocking Daryl to the ground. Rick screams “No!” and Andrea’s face shifts from pride to terror wondering what she has done.

Thankfully, Daryl was only grazed and survives the gunshot wound. Meanwhile, T-Dog notices that Daryl is carrying Sophia’s doll and the group wonders whether this is a good sign or a bad one.
