47. Rick and Daryl Meet Jesus

After the grim and nerve wracking events in “No Way Out” fans as well as the characters needed a little bit of a breather. For fans that breather came with the arrival of Jesus. The episode played out more like a buddy action comedy than a traditional episode of The Walking Dead and it was a nice change of pace.

It was also great to see Rick and Daryl, who are arguably the strongest and most skilled members of the Alexandria group, come up against someone just as clever and skilled as they are. Most of the time those two end up intimidating anyone they come across. But Jesus wasn’t intimidated or thrown off his game at all. He got the jump on them repeatedly.

Aside from the great introduction of the Jesus character this moment was really important for Alexandria and the residents overall. Before Rick and Daryl came upon Jesus they had no idea that there were other communities out there.

True, Jesus didn’t tell them about the other communities until after Rick and Daryl captured him and brought him back to Alexandria. But he really did open up an entirely new world for them. It was a hopeful moment to find out that they weren’t the last survivors and that there were entire communities out there working together and trading and creating some kind of society.
