44: Michonne Impales the Governor

Episode 408 “Too Far Gone”

Original Airdate: 12/1/2013

Submitted By: Sonya Iryna

“Too Far Gone” was one of the most emotional episodes of The Walking Dead. Until the season 7 premiere Hershel’s death was one of the most shocking and heartbreaking deaths of any of the core group of survivors.

So after The Governor’s brutal murder of Hershel fans wanted to see him die. It looked like Rick was going to be the one to avenge Hershel. But after a drawn out brawl The Governor was very close to killing Rick.

Then Michonne appeared, after having managed to free herself in the chaos after Hershel’s murder. She also got her katana back. And used the sword that The Governor had used to kill Hershel to kill him, impaling him through the chest as he choked Rick.

Being a Walking Dead fan means knowing that your favorite characters will die, probably in brutal and terrible ways. But after all the terrible things that The Governor did fans needed to see him killed. And it was great that Michonne was the one to do it considering her history with The Governor. It was also very satisfying that he died from the same blade he used to kill Hershel.

It doesn’t make up for the loss of Hershel, but it did give fans a little closure and a sense of justice.
