5. Rick Reunites With His Family

Episode 103, “Tell It To The Frogs”

Original Airdate: 11/14/2010

Submitted By: Tracey Phillips

Our survivors, or most of them, have arrived back at camp after a dangerous supply run to Atlanta. Merle is the one left behind handcuffed to a rooftop by self-proclaimed “Officer Friendly” Rick Grimes. Of course, it was never Rick’s intention to leave Merle there, but T-Dog trips and drops the handcuff key down a drain. Oops!

The group “minus one, plus one” arrive back at the quarry. Andrea is greeted enthusiastically by her worried younger sister Amy. Morales is reunited with his wife and two children. Glenn is still smiling from his joy ride in that zippy red Dodge Challenger. T-Dog and Jackie are also welcomed back to camp by their fellow survivors. There is joy and relief among all the survivors, well, almost all of them.
As Carl sees the happy reunions, he is most certainly reminded of the fact that he has lost his father, presumably dead. Lori tries to comfort her son. As much as Lori and Carl are happy to see their friends return, it is a stinging reminder of what they have lost.

Then Glenn mentions the “new guy”.

Rick slowly comes forward from the truck, looking down and then up, meeting eyes with young Carl. Carl’s sorrow turns to elation as he recognizes his dad and runs into Rick’s open arms. Lori is right behind him joining in the family hug. There is both joy and disbelief in her eyes. It is a beautiful, heartfelt reunion.
