The Walking Dead season 8 midseason premiere gets extended runtime
By Adam Carlson
The season 8 midseason premiere of The Walking Dead will have an extended runtime, but it still may not have enough time to contain all the drama.
In recent history, there have been some powerful episodes of The Walking Dead which needed some extra time past the 60-minute time slot on AMC to finish telling an important part of the story.
Entertainment Weekly revealed that fans will be treated to an 82-minute episode when the popular zombie survival drama series returns on February 25, 2018 for an episode which many viewers will likely be both excited for and dreading at the same time.
It is anticipated that the season 8 midseason premiere will be the farewell episode for Carl Grimes, who revealed in the midseason finale that he was bitten by walkers while battling a small horde with Siddiq.

He used that knowledge of his fate to act as a buffer with Negan and The Saviors and allow time for the people of Alexandria to escape before the people from The Sanctuary leveled much of their community.
Considering the major status of the character and the extended runtime, there will be plenty of time for Carl to do something that will involve his bravery and emotional goodbye, meaning viewers could be in for an emotional rollercoaster during the episode.
EW encourages fans recording on their DVRs or recording devices to allow extra time if planning on watching or re-watching the episode later as to not have the episode cut off accidentally by the time restrictions.
