The Walking Dead: Andrew Lincoln teases a future for Rick and Morgan
Andrew Lincoln hints that he doesn’t think this will be the last time Rick sees Morgan. But what could that possibly mean for The Walking Dead in the greater scheme of things?
There is absolutely no question that no matter what happens in The Walking Dead in the second half of season 8, it will be an emotionally charged eight episodes as fans say goodbye to two beloved characters: Carl and Morgan. Of course, we have no idea who else we’ll lose along the way, but we’ve been able to prepare, as best we can, for Chandler Riggs to leave the show and Lennie James to transition over to Fear The Walking Dead. But recent comments from Andrew Lincoln suggest that this might not be the end for Rick and Morgan.
In order for Morgan to make the jump to Fear the Walking Dead, there had to be a time jump. Many fans speculated that this was the only way a crossover could work given what we know of Morgan’s timeline between Atlanta and Alexandria. Robert Kirkman all but confirmed a time jump in early February, which sets up a future where the two shows could run in tandem with each other. This time jump also suggests (though it hasn’t been confirmed) that Morgan makes it out of The Walking Dead season 8 alive.
With the timelines synced up, that could mean that Rick’s group has a chance of meeting up with Morgan’s new Fear friends in the future. Maybe.
The reason fans are buzzing about this new possibility comes from Andrew Lincoln’s recent comments to Entertainment Weekly. Though all of The Walking Dead cast members are now well versed in muddying the waters so as to avoid giving things away, Lincoln’s comments can be taken in a number of interesting ways:
"“It was a very, very sad back eight. There were lots of goodbyes, and big goodbyes as well. But there was a sort of sense, certainly, with Lennie, that it’s until we meet again. It’s always been that way with Rick and Morgan. I don’t know, there’s something in the air, that I feel that it’s not quite the end yet for Rick and Morgan.”"
You can see that Lincoln’s comments can be taken any number of ways. There’s the sentimental way that says Rick and Morgan always find a way back to each other, or there’s the more literal way of thinking that we will see them back together at some point.

Is there some truth to his words, or are fans being led down a rabbit hole so as to set up another big surprise down the line? Either way, fans can look forward to both shows coming back to the airwaves as The Walking Dead returns February 25 and Fear the Walking Dead returns April 15.
