1) The flashback of Carl arguing with Rick is the continuation of the scene of Carl trying to give Siddiq food in the season premiere, “Mercy”.

2) As we flashback to Rick and Carl again, Carl says to Rick “You’re gonna live” not “we’re“. Now, that is some nice foreshadowing.

3) This episode gets its name from Carl trying to convince Rick they need to more than just kill The Saviors, saying “That’s how it’s gotta be.”

4) Aaron reminiscing to Enid about he and Eric’s recruiting excursions, much like Carl’s discussion with Rick, seem to hint at The Group returning to its behavior while at the prison in Seasons Three and Four.

5) Enid joking about how she drives better than Carl is a reference to their “roadtrip” to Hilltop after Carl crashed his car to kill a walker in Season Seven’s “Go Getters”.
