Chandler Riggs sends message to The Walking Dead Family
As fans bid a fond farewell to Carl Grimes, actor Chandler Riggs sent a message to members of The Walking Dead Family thanking them for their support.
Chandler Riggs took to social media following the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead to thank everyone out there who has helped support him through his journey. The post comes with a picture of Riggs when he was first cast in the role of Carl Grimes back in 2010, and seeing that cherubic little kid makes it even more apparent how far Riggs has come.
It wasn’t easy to say goodbye to Carl Grimes in The Walking Dead episode 809, “Honor.” It was very fitting that Siddiq (Avi Nash), the man who Carl rescued, told Carl that he would spend his life honoring Carl’s mission. Seeing Carl’s final hours was gut wrenching, but if there is an upside to having to say goodbye it’s that Chandler Riggs is going to do great things in the world.
In a message posted to his Instagram account, Riggs thanks everyone who has supported him for the opportunity he was given, promising that he “won’t let you down.” Take a look at the post:
There’s no missing the fact that Chandler Riggs’ farewell is bittersweet. Carl’s death doesn’t fit within the original source material, and so it makes it hard to understand why the character was killed off. Riggs himself didn’t see Carl’s death coming, which doesn’t help things.
On the other hand, fans will still be able to see Riggs at convention appearances, and Riggs can now focus on other projects. He’s in the middle of several projects right now, including music and roles in movies.
