1) This episode begins with an extreme close-up of a teary-eyed Rick. This is actually the second time we’ve seen this scene, as it was at the end of the season opener, “Mercy”, where Rick said “My mercy prevails over my wrath”. This will likely prove to be a flash-forward to the season finale.

2) Additionally, this is the second separate occasion where we’ve seen an episode end with such a shot: The first was the Season Seven opener, “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be”.

3) Carl is the first named member of The Alliance to die without any involvement from The Saviors, either directly or indirectly.

4) Gavin tells Ezekiel that Negan will kill him “And there’s nothing I can do about that”. This suggests Gavin would have tried to put in a word for Ezekiel otherwise.

5) Gavin laments that things were getting “shittier”. Firstly, that’s some nice foreshadowing; Secondly, did he think it was shittier because the comfortable arrangement The Saviors had was gone, or…because of how many people we going to die in the war?

6) Siddiq mentions the medicine he had helped his parents when they caught the fever. What were the circumstances under which they got bit?

7) Siddiq is the first doctor The Group’s had since Denise died in Season Six’s “Twice As Far”.
