#5. How will Negan react to Carl’s death?

The people at Alexandria all got to say goodbye to Carl in their own ways, but there are quite a few survivors outside of that group who didn’t get an opportunity to give their final respects or say farewell to him.

One individual who spent some time with Carl who got a written letter was Negan. Despite being the leader of The Saviors, Negan spent a good amount of time with young mister Grimes. He gave him a tour of The Sanctuary and talked about quite a few issues before returning him to Alexandria and cooking him dinner.

When he learned of Carl’s death from Rick, he first wanted to make sure that it wasn’t at the hands of The Saviors. Their bombarding of grenades of Alexandria had him concerned it was at his hands, but after he knew it wasn’t because of his efforts he showed great remorse.

But he also used the death to push his agenda forward. He said that Rick is to blame for Carl’s death since they refused the protection of The Saviors. While that’s not entirely untrue, it would also have meant giving up their freedom or working out some other kind of deal with Negan, which may not have been a true option either.
