Jesus is a popular character in The Walking Dead comic books but Tom Payne teases that the character’s signature look could be coming to the AMC TV series.

Paul Rovia is one of the most popular characters on AMC’s The Walking Dead. Nicknamed “Jesus” and being played by Tom Payne, the survivor from The Hilltop has become one of the most deadly yet warm-hearted characters in the series.

Jesus is a major part of the popular comic book series from Image Comics and Skybound as well. However, he does not quite look the same as depicted on the hit AMC zombie survival drama television series.

During a recent discussion with Tom Payne on the Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss podcast, the AMC regular spoke about his character’s hairstyle and whether or not he will adopt the iconic top-knot hairstyle from the comics.

"“I hope at some point in the future that could arise. It may already have, who knows. I love that look.”"

The good news is that Tom Payne has had enough time to grow out his facial hair as well as locks to solve an annoying problem he previously had while filming scenes as Jesus in the past.

I would not walk around like this all the time if it wasn’t real. It’s more time in the morning. When you have that fake beard and stuff stuck on your face, you can’t move your face. It’s just not fun. And the extensions, I had clip-on extensions, it was a lot.”"

Not everything from the hit comic series makes its way to the AMC show. In fact, there are a lot of changes that happen between the two mediums that give each their unique flavor for fans. However, Payne doesn’t want fans to miss out on some of the best things the comics have to offer.

"“I read all the comics, I’m up to date on all the comics. It bums me out as much as it bums out the fans that some of the moments don’t play out on the show. It’s kind of annoying,” he admitted.”"
