The Walking Dead 813: 35 thoughts about Do Not Send Us Astray
By Sonya Iryna
The Walking Dead delivered another intense episode last night as The Saviors attacked The Hilltop. Here are some thoughts about this episode.
Last night on The Walking Dead The Saviors, led by Simon, hit The Hilltop hard with their tainted weapons. And the weapons they had covered in walker guts and blood were as effective as Negan hoped. The residents of The Hilltop who were injured with the bloody weapons got the fever, died and turned. That caused massive chaos inside the plantation house and the medical trailer.
There were lots of deaths on both sides. And some heart wrenching moments that were a poignant reminder that while those of us watching have had some time to process the deaths of Glenn and Carl for Maggie and Rick the grief is still very present. The scene of the two of them fighting together, bonded in grief, was beautiful and terrible.
But last night’s episode also showed the best elements of The Walking Dead. Team Family reunited and fighting as one for not just their lives but also the legacy of those they love who are gone now. They are always at their best when they are together united for a single purpose.
The Saviors may not be vanquished yet, but now it’s been made very clear to both Negan and Simon that the alliance members are not afraid of them and are not backing down. The remaining three episodes of The Walking Dead are going to be incredible. Here are a few of my thoughts from ‘Do Not Send Us Astray’:
- Morgan’s applying for permanent residency in Crazytown.
- I love it when a plan comes together.
- Still shouting Chandler BADASS BOSS Riggs at the TV every time the credits air. Gonna be doing that for at least the rest of the season.
- Listen to the King Henry. And the Apocalypse Queen.
- Damn the doctor from The Kingdom is a little salty.
- “Here we go.” You got this Maggie Rhee!
- “Widow Rhee”. Ugh. The feels.
- Listening to Simon is exhausting. His speech pattern is worse than King Ezekiel’s.
- Of course Simon doesn’t care about The Savior prisoners. “We don’t like people who get caught” Hm I think I’ve heard that somewhere before… some other a**hole said that I think about a POW….
- How is Gregory still alive?!
- Literally being thrown under the bus. Stop underestimating Team Family Simon, they are ready for you.
- Tobin got stabbed with a tainted blade. Bye Tobin.
- Dwight shot Tara! I hope he didn’t taint his arrows.
- That is one eerie silence.
- Team Family is going to be the slaughtering around here Simon.
- The whistle again? It didn’t do any good the first 50 times you tried to use it to intimidate them but sure, go ahead, try again.
- Hey Rick’s actually hitting targets this week. He must have been practicing.
- There is nothing more exciting than seeing Team Family fighting together.
- Run away Saviors. Run away.
- Rick and Maggie fighting side by side is everything.
- Their grief is so raw. It’s palpable.
- AMC needs to pay Lauren Cohan whatever she wants. For real.
- Daryl getting lines again. Two consecutive episodes!
- Rick can’t stand still or he’ll feel that loss. He’s trying to outrun it. Ow.
- Michonne is hurting too but always showing up for her man. #RelationshipGoals
- “I wanted my husband’s grave to be the last thing he sees.” HELL. YES.
- Tobin, you were never good enough for Carol. #CarylForever
- Tobin turned really quickly.
- Henry ugh. Just stop.
- Siddiq just can’t get a break. Rick can’t accept him. Not yet.
- DAMNIT HENRY
- Jared tackled Henry and I’m not mad about it.
- Maggie struggling with her need to avenge Glenn and wanting to be a good leader. She is 100% Hershel’s daughter.
- “Karma’s a bitch”. TARA BETTER BE FINE.
- Rick’s got his murder jacket on. Negan’s gonna die.

If there’s one constant in The Walking Dead world it’s that loyalty, love and family always win. So even though right now both sides are pretty evenly matched I think Team Family will win All Out War. Because they are willing to fight and die for each other. The Saviors have numbers, but no loyalty, and the numbers mean nothing without loyalty to each other.
