3. Dwight

Dwight has been reluctantly playing along with Simon’s mutiny but it’s not making things any easier for him back at Hilltop. After seeing Tara get shot during the attack, Daryl is convinced that they have been duped and that Dwight is a dirty double-agent. What he didn’t see was how close Simon came to actually killing Tara and that Dwight’s actions may have saved her.

As we have also noted, Laura remains another potential foil to Dwight’s existence. For all of his extra efforts, Dwight’s survival rests precariously on what others have to say about him in the end. Laura could quickly end his tenure with the Saviors, while Tara could re-secure his alliance with Hilltop.

What makes Dwight so important right now? Everything. He is in a position to remove Simon and replace Negan, which could end the war. Or, if he is able to return to Hilltop, he has intimate knowledge of the Saviors’ current state of affairs. And, there are a lot of internal weaknesses within the Saviors that could be exploited in return for a swift end to “All Out War.”
