Fear the Walking Dead is back for season 4 with a new location, a new story and a handful of new faces. Here’s your preview of episode 401, “What’s Your Story.”

It isn’t often that you can say that a spinoff is better than the original show it’s based upon, but I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that Fear the Walking Dead has managed to surpass The Walking Dead in its fourth season.

I know what you might be thinking. That’s a huge statement and I’d better be ready to support it. But I think the proof is in the proverbial pudding, and one look at the season premiere will have viewers hooked. It’s that good. It’s so good. And it gets better in the second episode of the season. I can’t wait to see where the show goes in season 4 and I am confident that the TWD Family will agree.

The most important thing to note about Fear the Walking Dead is that you really don’t have to watch the first three seasons to understand what’s happening. I realize a lot of fans tuned out early on, and that’s fine. Season 4 starts in such a way that the previous three seasons don’t matter anymore. If you want to catch up, you can do so during the hiatus. It won’t matter or impact your viewing pleasure if you are coming into the show cold.

If you haven’t had a chance to see the first few minutes of the season, featuring Garret Dillahunt as John, here’s a look:

As you might notice, the show has a very different tone in season 4 and that’s what makes it so intriguing.

Fans of The Walking Dead are looking forward to watching Morgan Jones crossover and join the cast of the Fear the Walking Dead universe, and it will be interesting to see how he departs The Walking Dead and arrives on Fear. The transition will happen quickly, clearly, because the season finale of The Walking Dead immediately precedes Fear the Walking Dead, making for a quick departure.
