Overall impression

As a whole, this was a great episode of Fear The Walking Dead. While it didn’t have the same feel or even cast of characters that the AMC show had in previous seasons, it should have opened up the program to be accessible to a whole new audience.

  • I was skeptical about Morgan coming to the show, a massive time jump, and bringing in so many new faces to the show, but it totally works and could actually give this show a fresh feeling that helps it become more successful.

The new characters are amazing and watching them interact is already interesting. Admittedly, I wasn’t too familiar of the work of Maggie Grace or Garret Dillahunt before this, but they seem like great additions to the cast.

I can forgive the disposable bad guys and strange plot to enjoy this episode for what it is: an introduction to a new chapter in the series as well as some new faces to the story.

The only real negative from the episode is the lack of seeing the survivors from the previous seasons of the show.

However, with the way the season 4 premiere ended it will be interesting to see how it all plays out going forward and if the show can maintain this kind of feel on a long-term basis.

    Episode score: 9.2/10
