All Out War is finally over on The Walking Dead. Which characters didn’t survive the action packed season finale? Check out the casualties from All Out War.

It seems like the end of All Out War on The Walking Dead  has been a long time coming. There have been a lot of losses on both sides. Some favorites fell in battle early on, like Shiva who died protecting King Ezekiel. And Eric and Francine, who died in an attack on one of The Saviors’ outposts. Others made it almost to the end like Tobin, Jared and Simon.

But it wasn’t the last battle that had the heaviest death toll for both sides. In the highly anticipated season 8 finale of The Walking Dead there were no major character deaths. Two Saviors died early on because Negan sacrificed them in order to fool Rick. Goodbye Lance and Duke.

Scott Gimple said recently that The Walking Dead season 8 finale would wrap up the first 8 seasons of the show and bring an end to some characters storylines. He wasn’t kidding. This episode, and the tense final battle, felt like the end of an era for the show as well.

Rick and Negan finally had their one on one showdown. Rick slit Negan’s throat, but as Negan was bleeding out Rick told Siddiq to save him in honor of Carl because it was Carl’s wish for everyone to work together to find a new way forward. So Rick spared Negan, and will keep Negan in the cell in the house in Alexandria as an example to anyone else who tries to challenge what the communities are building.

Savior Losses

Even though there were no major character deaths a lot of Saviors lost their lives when they tried to fire on Rick, Maggie, Jesus, Carol and the rest of the alliance force. For a minute it looked like Team Family was totally outnumbered and about to lose the way. But when The Saviors fired Eugene’s bullets misfired and killed a huge number of Saviors and injured the rest. Eugene came through in the end and helped bring All Out War to a close.

In the end The Saviors that remained, along with the workers at The Sanctuary, turned to focusing on rebuilding The Sanctuary and preparing to start a new way of life. A massive herd was seen heading towards the communities but is it really a herd? Or is it The Whisperers? We won’t find out until The Walking Dead season 9.
