The Walking Dead, Worth: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
16) Gary is the first Savior killed by Negan since David in Season Seven’s “Something They Need”.
17) Negan calls Simon’s subterfuge as “Backstabby bullshit”. Negan has an established history of disdain for such treason, going back to his murder of Spencer in Season Seven’s “Hearts Still Beating” for the same reason.
18) Before their fight, Negan tells Simon “To be The Man, you have to beat The Man”, a quote famously used by professional wrestling legend, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair.
19) Simon is the second Savior killed this season by Negan. After only killing one last season, Negan’s killed two in just one episode.
20) It’s interesting how angry Negan is by the prospect of having to kill The Alliance. The idea of having to wipe a group out seems to anger him more than said group resisting him.
21) Laura’s surprise return reveals who it was Negan picked up at the end of “Still Gotta Mean Something”.
22) Eugene’s instructions to Father Gabriel about “following his lead”, combined with his use of Rosita’s line of “Time to do something useful with our pathetic lives.” has me wondering: Is this foreshadowing Eugene sabotaging The Saviors bullets?
23) Carl asking Negan in his letter if “this” (i.e. Killing everyone) was what he wanted is exactly what Carl asked Negan before the bombardment of Alexandria in “How It’s Gotta Be”.
