Review of Fear the Walking Dead episode 404: Buried
By Adam Carlson
Overall impression of FearTWD 404
As a whole, this episode did a good job of not only putting some more context regarding the death of Nick last week but moved the story involving the Vultures forward toward what appears to be a massive battle.
Every single character in the episode saw their story develop based on their losses in either timeline and fans learned a lot more about what happened at the baseball stadium without revealing everything that happened there.
The underlying theme of this episode is regret. Each character was put in a situation where they had to make the decision to stay with Madison at the diamond or go off on their own start new somewhere else, blaming themselves or their decisions for what landed them in their current situation.
Pacing in this episode was quick despite being a limited amount of plot pushing forward in the main storyline. Yet, there was absolutely no disappointment in the lack of action on the front of the Vultures, since much of the primary character’s motivations centered around that group.
This was a great episode that had to have this kind of tone considering the huge death of Nick last week. Still, it’s weird to see him on the show in the past timeline since we know he is dead in the present one.
EPISODE GRADE: 9.1/10
