Avi Nash promoted to series regular for The Walking Dead season 9

Avi Nash made quite an impression as Siddiq during his season 8 debut on The Walking Dead and he’ll be a regular heading into season 9 of the AMC show.
The Walking Dead always teases a bigger world on the horizon, but season 9 of the popular zombie survival drama series will be getting bigger thanks to the addition of two actors to the show’s regulars.
Last year at this time. Steven Ogg, Pollyanna McIntosh, and Katelyn Nacon got promoted to regulars. This year, it is Callan McAuliffe who plays Alden and Avi Nash as Siddiq joining the core cast heading forward according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Nash was previously known for his work on shows such as Silicon Valley and films like Barry, Learning to Drive, and Amateur Night before landing the role of Siddiq for season 8 of The Walking Dead.

Fans of the hit comic book series know that Siddiq actually plays a major role going forward and is a long-term survivor who helps to tie together many of the communities thanks to his work ethic and laid-back nature.
Unlike the character in the comics, Siddiq has some medical background in the show that could make him even more valuable to the survivors. However, considering the track record that doctors have on the AMC drama, Avi Nash’s character might want to keep his head on a swivel.
Still, there is a lot to explore when it comes to Siddiq. His mission to free the walkers from their eternal future of wandering the Earth will need to be developed a bit more, as will his role within the group at The Hilltop and Alexandria.
Some fans blame Siddiq for the death of Carl, meaning it will take longer for fans to embrace the character. Others see Nash’s character as a step in transitioning from a world full of hate and killing to one focused on love and teamwork.
Whether viewers love him or hate him heading into season 9, there will be a lot to learn about Siddiq as the story unfolds after the conclusion of All-Out War against Negan and The Saviors.
