The Walking Dead is just one of several fandoms you can find at Funko. Today I am going to be reviewing the soft but tough figure.

First and foremost this is not a sponsored review. I was gifted this Fabrikations Soft Sculpture of my favorite Walking Dead character and would like to share my thoughts. Fair warning: While Funko still makes the Fabrikations line, the Daryl Dixon figure is not currently in stock. If you happen to find one at a store, you might grab it up because they’re hard to come by.

Description

This soft sculpture is actually worth keeping in the box because it’s so stunning.

The color choices of white and gold immediately grabs your attention well before you notice the figure inside. Daryl stands in the open space in front of the box adorned with his name at the bottom and Fabrikations number 25 at the top right-hand corner.

The back of the box has a complete description of the “6” fabric creation”, including features like: “high quality fabrics, embroidered detailing, and flat bottom feet for easy display”.

Coming around to the inside of the box we see hand-drawn images of the plastic crossbow, the flattened feet and Daryl’s side profile noting that the soft head rotates.

With all of this work considered, the box is a literal piece of art. It becomes a display in itself for the soft sculpture.

Daryl Dixon

I was taken aback by the creative decision to make the head compellingly bigger than the rest of the body.

Daryl’s signature scowl stares right at you under his long hair and bangs. The head rotates completely around with ease and is comfortable to the touch.

The body isn’t as soft as a stuffed animal from an arcade claw machine but is not weighty to the point of being unbearable to hold. The rest of Daryl’s body is smaller by comparison.

Two small arms remain stationary next to his square-shaped midsection and two round feet. Daryl’s weapon of choice, the crossbow, sits in his right hand, the famous red bandana hangs out the back of his right jean pocket just below the glorious angel-winged vest.

The only thing keeping Daryl in place are the plastic straps holding him in the box. But once cut, without the strings he was still able to stand inside effortlessly.

Taking him out of the open front box was a simple task and sure enough, he stands fine on his own.

Final Thoughts

Like Funko’s Mystery Minis, I admire the attention to even the minor details while creating something entirely new.

The plastic crossbow is the right size for this figure and I can’t stop staring at the perfect, little, angel wings stitched onto the removable black vest.  The large head is a little off-putting at first but once you take into consideration the flawless work on the piece, including the box he comes in, it will warm your heart.
