Fear The Walking’s dramatic bottle episode Laura was number one in the cable ratings on Sunday night.

Fear The Walking Dead continued its run at the top of the cable ratings Sunday night with the intense bottle episode ‘Laura’ that revealed the backstory of new character John Dorie. The episode focused on John’s relationship with Naomi and gave John Dorie a solid place in the hearts of fans.

Laura’ had 2.4 million live views on Sunday night, which is almost exactly the same number of views as the previous week. It beat the NHL Conference Finals by nearly half a million views and once again it had about a million more views than HBO’s Westworld.

Bottle episodes traditionally draw fewer views than episodes with the ensemble cast but Fear The Walking Dead’s look back at how John Dorie and Laura/Naomi met drew a lot of interest from fans who were curious to know more about John Dorie, played by Garret Dillahunt.

The episode was directed by The Walking Dead director Michael Satrazemis who had directed some of the best episodes of The Walking Dead like The Grove, Hearts Still Beating, and Still Gotta Mean Something. His unique ability to capture the emotion and intensity between characters makes him a master of bottle episodes and ‘Laura’ is regarded by fans as one of the best episodes of Fear The Walking Dead in the entire series so far.

Live +3 ratings haven’t been put out yet for last week’s episode ‘Buried’ but it will be interesting to see if there a jump in the Live +3 ratings that is consistent with extended ratings for other episodes. So far this season Fear is picking up about a million new views in the first three days after each episode.

Fear The Walking Dead Midseason Finale

It’s hard to believe that we’re almost halfway through Fear’s fourth season but the midseason finale is coming in just a couple of weeks. It looks like the midseason finale will reveal whatever went bad at the diamond and how Alicia, Nick, Lucy and Strand ended up on their own. It also should reveal what happened to Madison and Naomi.

Alicia told John that Laura/Naomi didn’t make it out of the diamond and was dead. But in The Walking Dead universe if you don’t see a body you can’t be sure that anyone is really dead. After seeing the relationship that John and Naomi had in ‘Laura’ fans are hoping that Naomi somehow did survive and that she and John will be reunited.

If Madison is still alive and manages to reunite with Alicia and the others Mel and The Vultures better run because there won’t be anyplace in that post-apocalypse world that can hide them from Madison’s wrath once she find out that Charlie killed Nick.
