Returning to Alexandria

Alexandria was left in a state of disrepair after Michonne and Rick buried Carl. With foundations still on fire, walkers roaming free and defenses down, it was hard to watch our heroes leave their home once again.

The Saviors made sure to make a violent point upon their surprise attack which led to Carl’s last stand of facing Negan while allowing his friends to escape unharmed. With no other option Rick and the group settling in at The Hilltop.

They returned to Alexandria at the end of the season where Negan would be contained for the time being. What remains of the suburban sanctuary?

It’s clear with Father Gabriel’s cry of gratitude in the remains of the destroyed church that they will once again rebuild. Alexandria can become the oasis Carl dreamed of with gardens and everyone living together in harmony.

Will that garden be bountiful or full of weeds? Though it’s implied that Negan’s imprisonment will be in the cell Morgan built seasons prior, who is to say Alexandria will be a permanent residence.

Rick and company have lived in several places, moving from one to another comes naturally while surviving in the apocalypse. Maybe Alexandria’s days are numbered and The Hilltop, The Kingdom or somewhere new might have to be their new home.
