Fear the Walking Dead: 5 reasons Madison could still be alive
The dueling timelines in Fear the Walking Dead season 4 seem to suggest that tragedy has befallen Madison, but we have five reasons to think Madison is alive.
Death is a part of life on Fear the Walking Dead, but until you see it with your own eyes, there’s still a chance that things will work out for characters who are missing in action. Fear has been back for six episodes so far in season 4, but Clark family matriarch Madison has only been seen in the flashbacks. We haven’t seen her in the present, and that’s cause for concern.

There are things that we can take to be known facts. We know Madison was alive at the end of season 3 because she was the only living person we saw after the dam exploded. Now, in season 4, we have seen Madison in scenes at the Stadium, which is in the past. When we first arrive at the Stadium an announcement declares that the community has been going strong for a full year. Then the Vultures show up, and the food runs out. Madison is there for it all.
So where is she in the present?
It certainly looks like Madison is dead. We haven’t seen her traveling with Luciana, Strand and Alicia. She doesn’t know Nick is dead. After six episodes we now know Naomi is alive in the present. The reason it’s hard to accept that she’s dead is that the group doesn’t seem upset when they talk about her. Nick’s death was a major blow for them, but upon reflecting about the past they don’t express the kind of sadness you would expect to see.
Like Schrodinger’s Cat, with the absence of knowing the truth about her fate, Madison is both alive and dead in the present until we know for sure. With that in mind, we have five reasons that Madison could still be alive on Fear the Walking Dead.
