Norman Reedus meets his opossum fan at MegaCon

Norman Reedus meets a lot of people when he attends conventions, but we have a feeling this fan of The Walking Dead left quite an impression on him.

The man who brings Daryl Dixon to life on The Walking Dead is always a popular draw at fan conventions all around the world, but this time Norman Reedus met a fan who might have taken him by surprise. 

Meet Sesame, a rescued opossum who is a celebrity on Instagram with over sixty thousand followers. While some people consider opossum to be nuisances, this rescued critter is a bona fide celebrity who got a chance to meet his idol, Norman Reedus.

Seeing an opossum at a fan convention might not be something you see everyday, but Sesame often travels around spreading awareness about rescue and rehabilitation of oppossum (they’re not meant to be pets, but in rare cases some, like Sesame, cannot be returned to the wild) as well as awareness about veganism and cruelty-free products. He’s an ambassador for rescue animals of all kinds, and he’s also an avid painter known for his colorful pieces of art. Animals don’t really fare well in the world of The Walking Dead, and we’ve seen an opossum or two become a meal on the show over the years. Not only that, but it’s usually Daryl who plays the role of hunter and gatherer. That’s what makes this interaction particularly special.
