He’s The Perfect Catch

Apocalypse aside, John Dorie is the perfect catch. (Fishing pun very much intended) In fact, this gentle cowboy is the very best find in the middle of an apocalypse. Had Laura remained with him, they would have been a very successful couple. That seems pretty clear now that we know she has a penchant for self-preservation and John has a knack for staying alive.

Unlike most of the people we have encountered in the world of The Walking Dead, John Dorie is a nice guy. We keep saying it because nice people who are as close to altruistic as you can get are like mythical creatures. Just look at Strand, who keeps betraying his friends over and over again. John is a gentleman, and he’s doing his best to keep up old traditions even though the world has fallen to pieces. Who else would offer candy to everyone he meets?

Based on his story, he should be a lot darker but he chooses to live in the light, which makes him such an interesting contrast to Morgan, who embraces the pessimistic side of tragedy. Together, they make a great team. John brings out the best in Morgan, which is great to see.
