The Walking Dead knocked Negan down a peg or two in season 8. He’s not alone. Jadis lost perhaps equally as much which may mean they have more in common than previously thought.

Jadis went from questionable to full-blown villain the moment she betrayed Rick on The Walking Dead. Deciding to join Negan instead because he offered a better deal, she and her Scavengers managed to shake up Alexandria before fleeing once Rick’s reinforcements arrived.

What makes her and Negan possible allies did not come from that arrangement but rather from a more personal and near heartbreaking experience episodes later. To backtrack, on the episode “The Lost and the Plunderers”  Simon arrived unannounced ordered to kill just one of The Scavengers when they believed she switched sides again.

Deciding to cross the line, Simon killed every last one of The Scavengers before a horrified Jadis. Jadis, believing Simon was acting under Negan’s orders decided to capture the leader of The Saviors, tying him down and using him as part of her makeshift SOS signal for a helicopter in the later episode “Still Gotta Mean Something.”

It was during this time that not only did we get to see Jadis in a different light but Negan as well. When Jadis tries to destroy Lucille Negan pleads with her explaining, briefly, that he named the bat after his dead wife.

Negan learns that Simon was responsible for the massacre and that Jadis somehow has contact to the outside once the helicopter appears. The shared and mutual understanding between the two was evident and sure enough, she lets him go.

Negan, quick to forgive her, asked her to go back to The Sanctuary with him however she refused. Fast forward to the season 8 finale and Negan is defeated, captured and officially Rick’s prisoner at presumably Alexandria.

Morgan had gone to the junkyard to retrieve Jadis while he decides to remain at her old home. Where does this leave Negan and Jadis now?

Father Gabriel and Jadis are the only characters that know the most about Negan’s past in regards to his wife whom he cheated on before her death. With Negan and Jadis now living in the same community who is to say she won’t be the only person willing to visit and watch him?

Out of everyone, Jadis seems to be the likely person to willing pursue a friendship with him. Does this mean she will actually explain to him the helicopter and what she was doing the day she kidnapped him?

Maybe. If she aligns herself with Negan she will undoubtedly have a target on her back as well.

Therein lies the problem. Since Jadis lost everyone she had ever known she’s bound to look for that bond and may find it with Rick and the communities.

She was trying to alienate herself before refusing to follow Negan back to The Sanctuary but once Morgan arrived she was more than eager to join Rick and have a new home. The junkyard was becoming a graveyard and somewhere she didn’t want to or need to be anymore.

The majority of characters are not happy Negan is still alive and more than half only accept it because they follow and obey Rick. However, Jadis appears to be the type willing to give Negan a second chance.

If she didn’t kill him when she literally had him on the ropes then why would she now? Both were betrayed by the same man and had lost nearly everyone and everything they knew.

Unless she or Negan told anyone, no one knows of their crazy bonding day at the junkyard which means they can choose to be close allies in secret. In retrospect, Negan probably should accept her allegiance.

Perhaps Jadis will somehow juggle her friendship with Negan and the citizens of Alexandria. She’s not a fool to know that enemies are a common misfortune people encounter in the apocalypse.

It’s best to pick and make your friends as soon as possible. Even if it means extending a olive branch to a previous enemy.

Considering Maggie is plotting to destroy Rick and Michonne for allowing Negan to survive, he may need all the help he can get. Season 9 on-set photos did reveal Jadis and Father Gabriel sitting next to each other on a horse-drawn wagon.

Convenient? It may be the perfect time for them to discuss Negan and their opinions with the man.

What do you think of a Negan and Jadis alliance? Think they make a great team or are better off not associating with each other?
